There is a known vulnerability in the online video game, Grand Theft Auto. The vulnerability as described is a Remote Code Execution (RCE) is a malicious attack where arbitrary, or random code is remotely implemented into a targeted system or machine. This vulnerability allowed hackers to hack into online GTA accounts, steal cash earned from the game, user bans, and loss of progress on the game. Any computer using the game is also at risk of becoming infected. The good news is, it’s been patched. Another example of a Remote Code Execution Attack from the past is SambaCry, which is a linux equivalent to the WannaCry vulnerability from May 2017. SambaCry targetted the SMB protocol where arbitrary code gets executed to a Samba share from a malicious Samba client with write access.
